Reputation & Crisis Support

We have clients who have been subjected to unwarranted and politically motivated attacks in respected newspapers based on deliberate disinformation. TPPR collaborates with legal counsel and advisers in Washington, London, Paris and other jurisdictions to negotiate corrections and retractions. We have arranged for forensic evidence to demonstrate that a newspaper was the subject of disinformation.

Other cases have involved engagement over longer periods of time on retainer to monitor the reputation of clients and to protect them from sustained attacks which may be commercially or politically motivated. Other cases have involved emergency support for politicians who have been victims of leaked material or dossiers containing suspect information.

Our experience of private client reputation protection during the ‘war on terror’ is unparalleled and includes the swift correction of misunderstandings, often with serious life and property threatening implications, related to major incidents in Africa and the Middle East.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide the details of most of these cases for reasons of client confidentiality.

Sample Case Studies

I

One of the most important manuscripts collections in the world found itself under unwarranted attack by activists and in dispute with major institutions in two countries as a result of these attacks. Working very closely with legal counsel, our team created a Press Office and ensured independent control of the collection’s website to ensure direct lines of communication with the public and to present the facts of the matter. This helped to ensure a satisfactory outcome for all non-activist parties. TPPR is particularly experienced in managing the interface between cultural policy and international affairs.

II

A major human rights abuse by a sovereign state has been unresolved for many years. Working with senior figures in several jurisdictions, involving complex discussions and negotiations, we are leading the team to ensure a resolution that meets the requirements of all parties.

III

An error of judgement by a sovereign nation resulted in the destruction of a client's property and accusations of complicity in terrorism. Working with the client's other key advisers, TPPR co-ordinated communications operations from London that successfully ensured that the client's credit and reputation were quickly restored and that the mistake by the sovereign nation was widely acknowledged.

IV

A prominent African-based business figure was wrongly and maliciously targeted by a political warfare operation seeking to implicate him in the 9/11 attack. Working closely with his lawyers and other advisers, TPPR maintained a counter-intelligence operation to establish the pattern of attacks, has advised on responses and context and dealt with pre-litigation media contacts throughout Europe.
